The project was announced in July 2002 and is named after the nearby Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. It is Station Casinos' flagship property, and the company's corporate headquarters is located on the property. It is owned and operated by Station Casinos on 59.43 acres (24.05 ha) located in the Downtown Summerlin neighborhood.
